Summary of training
Regular weekend sessions covering up to 350 miles where possible at varying paces.
Bi-monthly trips to Spain to undertake warm weather training sessions with my father in law and designated RV driver.
Regular team meetings and training sessions to give everyone an idea of what it will be like on the road. The RAAM clinic in London in February gave enormous insight to the crew.
Hypoxic training sessions over final 8 weeks to increase oxygenation of blood and hopefully aide my recovery.
10 heat acclimation sessions to ‘teach’ my body how to dissipate heat more efficiently.
Regular sports psychology sessions to help prepare mentally for the solo challenge.
Hypnotherapy sessions to enable me to work more efficiently after rest.
Chose to sleep in an oxygen tent for the final 8 weeks.
Sleep depravation sessions over the final four weeks where I wake up every two hours and perform an activity to ‘teach’ myself to be responsive from the moment I wake up.
Evening sessions on the ‘turbo’ to build up endurance.
