Message from the Crew Chief…

Hi,

He is doing ok. It’s really tough at the mo due to lots of uphill climbs in intense heat. Today has been a struggle but he is in good spirits and good form.

Keep the updates coming; they help a lot.

Sue

Hi Richard
There’s a small village in Ghana called Egyei Krom that is 100% behind you and willing you on. The money you are raising will build them a new kindergarten - at the moment they have nothing and take their lessons in a half built house.

Hi Rich,
Your doing a fantastic job and as one of Jim’s crew chief’s from last year I know how hard things are for you crazy cyclists :) Having seen a solo cyclists complete RAAM last year it is hard to put into words what you guys go through and how amazing you all are. You have a superb crew chief and I am sure the rest of your crew are equally as good. I know you have trained hard and we are keeping an eye on your tremendous progress almost constantly, it’s so additive :).
Keep spinning and with Sue as your crew chief I know you have a great team behind you ALL the way.
Keep it going all the way to the finish line.

Hey Richie

Quite impressed I am and jealous of the frequent massages. Sounds like the worst of the climbs are over but then again the Rockies must have been quite an incredible sight. Good memories no doubt unless of course survival is the only thing on your mind right now! Keep those wheels turning. The crew are doing a good job keeping your spirits up from what I hear. PMA, PMA (not something you’re short of). Ttfn x Lizzi and a shout out all in VPR

Hi Mum

We all miss you very much. There is a real hole is our house-hold with out you! Hope the hours are not to bad and that you are getting enough sleep to cope! Hamish says Hi and I’m sure he doesn’t understand why you are not here! Everyone we spoke to at waterloo, was inquiring in to your endeavour in the states. we could only give positive feedback to them all and in return they wish you the best of luck!

At waterloo there was also a race. It was between Danny, Tom, Adrian and Swiffy. The race took place at no other venue than the Loin mound! The task was to get to the top and back to the bottom first! Danny came first, then Adrian, Tom and last but not least poor old Swiffy. Danny and tom celebrated this success but throwing up there dinner in a bush!

Battle Field Report: 1st 95th Rifles almost captured Napoleon; we were chased off by his staff on horse.

All is well here and we send lots and lots and lots and lots of LOVE and HUGS!

Love you lots

Anna and Martin

It is normally around this time of the year that I start reading about the Tour de France before following it on Eurosport. This year I have been tracking your far more arduous journey that has captured the imagination of so many people across Davis Langdon. It is great to hear that your support team are keeping you going for it sounds as if it has been pretty tough. My recollection from my geography A level plus daytime flights across the States is that at least the topography and temperature should be getting a little bit easier even if the mileage has still to be conquered. You embarked on this challenge for reasons of your own and you have set a really onerous target for your self, but just remember that how ever you do you will be a hero as far as we are concerned. Travel safely. Rob Smith.

Rob Littlefair
Jun 23, 2009 19:45

Keep it going Rich. Everyone’s gunning for you, there’s plenty of talk in the office about the massive challenge that you are going through and Russ keeps your progress up to date on the big map we have. Can’t believe I had to log on to learn that you were sleeping in an oxygen tent, but you were quite happy to discuss weighing yourself in the altogether and riding in a hot conservatory at 5am. Bet you’re glad you did those sessions! Keep the legs spinning and the bike moving! All the best, Rob.

Hi Rich & Support Team

What a great few weeks of sport we have had, Lions in SA, US Open, Ascot, 20/20 World Cup, Wimbledon… the list goes on…..

But for me (& i suspect many others on this diary) nothing has surpassed our daily (sometimes more frequent) fix of checking on your progress - keep it going through the last couple of days - keep striving and pushing for your dreams, you all will have certainly earned them.

It has been an inspiration for us to follow your progress.

It has also been moving to read all the messages from all who have contributed, you have touched so many people
